Bumi Sehat has sent a small team of medics, including midwives, into Haiti. Our field experience after the Tsunami and earthquakes in Indonesia has prepared us to be effective in the relief of suffering and trauma on the ground in disaster zones.

SPECIAL DELIVERY! - New Chapter, Inc and Direct Relief International Team Up to Supply Vitamins to Pregant Women in Bali
Sunday, 23 August 2009 06:42

On August 22, 2009 Yayasan Bumi Sehat, a health clinic and birth center in Ubud, Bali, received a year’s supply of donated Perfect Prenatal vitamins for Balinese expectant mothers.  YBS is a by-donation clinic offering health and midwifery services to those in need located in the village of Nyuh Kuning. The vitamins were generously provided by New Chapter Inc., an organic vitamin and supplement company based in Vermont.  They have been the exclusive donor of these much needed vitamins for YBS for the last 3 years, helping more than 500 women each year.

As YBS has neither access nor experience with maneuvering global logistics to manage the shipment of a year’s supply of vitamins, the journey of these vitamins halfway across the world was made possible through the generous support of Direct Relief International.  Their mission is to provide medical assistance to improve quality of life for people victimized by poverty, disaster, and civil unrest at home and throughout the world. The vitamins were initially shipped to the Direct Relief Warehouse in San Fransisco and then shipping and logistical costs were covered all the way to Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.
